COMMUNITY BRANDS BUYS ABILA Featured

Jean-Paul Guilbault, Community BrandsAccel-KKR has sold nonprofit software company Abila to Community Brands. The investment company acquired Abila in 2013 when the business was spun-off from the Sage Group. Community Brands combines Abila, Aptify and Your Membership into one company.

Jean-Paul Guilbault, CEO of Your Membership, has been named president of Community Brands. Accel-KKR will maintain a small equity ownership position in that company. A blog post by Mark Patterson EVP and COO of Aptify, says the three brands will be run separately. "The intention behind Community Brands is not to merge, but rather to integrate where it makes sense," Patterson wrote. The deal should provide increased research and development funding to support current initiatives and the company's roadmap, he explained. In February, Abila hired Craig Charlton as CEO replacing Krista Endsley, who had led the Austin, Texas-based nonprofit software company since its founding. Aptly makes membership and association management software. Abila markets nonprofit accounting software and the netForum association management software line.
