RANDOM THOUGHTS: ON A DAY

On a day like Memorial Day, I sometimes think of the countless people trapped in lives of incredible boredom and senseless repetition of actions and locked into meaningless rituals, with little hope for any improvement in their fate. But enough about professional baseball; the World Cup begins soon. So class, here's your first lesson in Spanish for the World Cup. Repeat after me, "goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal, goooooooooooooooooooooooooooal. ...

There was a lot of great medical news this week. Some guy thinks ingesting hookworms is good for treating allergic reactions. While recent medical discussions indicate this might have some basis, I'd like scientific tests before saying, "Take two hookworms and call me in the morning". Meanwhile, one editor compiled a list of studies that show physical flaws are good. The headline was "Flaws Like a Big Nose, Small Breasts Could Be Good for Your Health." I guess the song Baby Got Back (I like big butts) displays a healthy attitude. This is the greatest news since a study last year reported that men in their 60s who have sex with women in their 20s are healthier (or just die happy). ... Technology has improved our lives in so many ways. Think about how tough it was in the Middle Ages. The guy trying to promote the  “Maids y-Gone Wilde” scrolls in England had to hire a troop of monks, who frantically chased around Lady Godiva with their paints and brushes. They kept yelling out, “Can you move the hair again please?” ... After getting a lot of FaceBook “friend” requests from very attractive young ladies, I got one that laid it all on the table (perhaps an unfortunate turn of phrase) “I'm a p *** star” (the word causes spam filter issues) But I guess this part of the movie  industry is attracting a better-quality person these days. She listed her educational background as having attended the “United Nations High School” and the "Air Force Academy”.
