SAP GROWS CLOUD AND LICENSES

Most software companies are seeing cloud revenue increase while license sales drop. But for its first quarter ended March 31, SAP grew both segments. Overall revenue reached about $5.76 billion for the most recently ended quarter, up 12 percent from a year earlier.

Dynamics revenue increased by 10 percent in Microsoft's third quarter ended March 31. The company said that was 11 percent in constant currency. In its SEC filing recently, Microsoft did not provide actual revenue figures. Nor did it publish the kind of figures that allowed us to calculate actual revenue for the second quarter.

ComputerWork NFP was given one of AccuFund's 2016 Partner Leadership awards at a recent reseller meeting. The Ontario, Calif.-based organization was cited as the overall volume sales leader and volume leader in government sales and both total unit and add-on sales.

Blackbaud signaled plans for worldwide growth with the promotion this month of Patrick Hodges as SVP global sales. Hodges, who joined the company in 2001, was previously VP of sales and was named to the senior leadership team, reporting to CEO Mike Gianoni.

Blackbaud CEO Mike Gianoni was paid $5.7 million for the year ended 2016, largely from a stock award of $4.4 million. That was well beneath the $11.5 million he received in 2015—his first complete year with the nonprofit software vendor—also largely from a stock award, in that case of $10.1 million.

Oracle plans a significant expansion for what it calls the Oracle NetSuite Global Business Unit. The company plans to double the number of data centers globally to 11 from five. This includes adding a fourth North American Data Center in the Chicago, Ill., area.

Explore Consulting will take over Bi101 starting next month. Explore, a NetSuite reseller based in Bellevue, Wash., said it will leverage some key NetSuite resources from Bi101 based in Livermore, Calif. The combination, they said, will enable them to offer a broadened set of service offerings.

NetSuite Oracle has established a boundary to delineate the target markets for the company's channel and direct sales force. The threshold outlined during this week's partner kickoff at NetSuite SuiteWorld was 1,500 employees. Below that, it's the field of NetSuite and its VARs; above that the territory the Oracle direct sales force.

Except for a handful of changes, this year's SuiteWorld conference will be pretty much like the past editions. Those changes are it's in Las Vegas, Nev., not in California for the first time, starting Monday, April 24; CEO Zach Nelson is gone, and, oh yeah, Oracle acquired the company last year.
