BLACKBAUD RAMPS SALES HIRING Featured

Tony Boor, BlackbaudBlackbaud is ramping up its sales force to serve a larger market. The company said during its recent webcast for earnings for the third quarter ended September 30 that it is hiring more than 100 sales reps. Blackbaud ended the second quarter with 440 reps and was up to 472 when the third period ended.

“We will continue to ramp through 2019,” CFO Tony Boor said during the webcast. “This is a kind of new norm for us.” That follows a big quarter for product introductions including the Education Management portfolio as part of Cloud Solution for Higher Education; a new Blackbaud Church Management, part of a new Cloud Solution for Faith Communities; and a Nonprofit Resource Management application, which is the first product coming from the Integrated Cloud Initiative for Nonprofits, jointly developed with Microsoft. For the most recently ended quarter, Blackbaud reported net income of $11.2 million, down 8.7 percent from $12.8 million a year earlier. Revenue was $209.5 million, an increase of 7.8 percent from $194.4 million in last year’s corresponding period. Hiring appeared to be a big factor in the drop in earnings as sales, marketing and customer success revenue  $49.1 million, rose 10.4 percent from $42.6 million.
