In a conference call with its channel about the company’s purchase of SoftBrands, Dennis Michalis, SVP of strategic planning and alliances, said the additional acquisition was “inching us close to Autodesk” and that the company is No. 3 in volume after Microsoft and SAP. Autodesk had $2.3 billion in revenue in its last fiscal year. I’m inclined to think there are several more inches to go as Softrands had a roughly $100 million run rate. Autodesk also had $2.17 billion in revenue for the year ended Jan. 31, 2008. An estimate from Hoover's placed Infor at $2.2 billon for 2008, but I take Michalis's comments to mean that is overstated. And that would be the same for the AMR Research figures of $2.3 billion for the same year. Michalis said his organization employs 8,200 people. Doing sales per employee doesn't help because Autodesk's was about $300,000, which would obviously make Infor bigger than Autodesk at that rate, so that revenue per must be smaller.
