FOUR AX APPS BOUGHT BY MICROSOFT
After a very quiet month, Microsoft made a very loud noise this week with the acquisition of four Dynamics AX applications from four of its resellers. There are agreements in place with at least two that mean Microsoft has hired partners to develop vertical market capabilities for AX.
It picked up Dynamics AX for Process Industries, from Athens, Ala.-based Fullscope. It acquired professional services software from New York-based Computer Generated Solutions, which serves a broad range of markets, including architects and engineers and advertising and marketing. Microsoft also purchased LS Retail for AX, a retail application from LS Retail, based in Reykjavik, Iceland, which continues to market LS Retail for NAV. And it bought a product from To-Increase, a subsidiary of Columbus IT Partner. Columbus IT Partner followed with a press release that said Microsoft had paid $5 million for Retail Chain Management and that it will spend millions for the Copenhagen-based company to develop the product. Referring to the fact that Microsoft got Navision from Denmark, Columbus essentially said, "There is nothing like a Dane." (Sorry, I can't help myself.) And to show how big organizations work overseas, the name the parent used compares with the Retail Chain Manager name give in the To-Increase press release. Since the other three companies are privately held, we won't be getting sale amounts from them. CGS and Fullscope did not make any statements.
