in the previous day's session. Microsoft seemed to say that the only updates to GP from this month on would be payroll updates and that seemed to accelerate a cutoff that had been anticipated for 2025. Mike Morton, VP of Dynamics 365 Business Central, who addressed the Wednesday meeting, wrote in a LinkedIn post, he wanted to “apologize for any lack of clarity in our presentation.” Morton said releases will continue on the same schedule outlined in the GP Modern Support Lifecycle. The company will continue to issue regulatory and security updates, along with hotfixes, and there will also be enhancements to “usability, reliability, addressing top customer issues, and other areas that are critical in ensuring businesses run successfully on GP.” He also noted ISVs will continue to extend GP functions. What will not be developed are new modules and there will be no major investments and innovations, which will be made in other Dynamics 365 applications. The statement does not end the controversy. One attendee at both sessions pictured Morton as walking back statement that essentially said, "GP is done". Another sent a photo of a slide from the Tuesday session which said, "Microsoft will continue releasing Dynamics regulatory (tax) and security updates but the October 2022 release was the last release adding other new features." In a LinkedIn post, Mark Rockwell, owner of Rockton Software, a long-time Dynamics ISV, wrote, "ERP has never aligned with Microsoft's competency or vision, and their haphazard approach to GP, SL, AX, NAV, and now the disaster of BC shows years of leaving customers upended and without support or direction. My disdain for Microsoft's ERP practices has hit an all-time low." Rockwell, who did not attend Summit, said he was glad he was emphasizing Acumatica. Microsoft wants to move most GP users to Dynamics 365 Business Central. However, in another LinkedIn one consultant wrote, "there are many, many GP sites that simply cannot currently land their business on the D365 runway: GP focused partners are strategically critical in keeping those sites on GP, on the Microsoft reservation, and away from the competition."
