Avalara has issued a major update to its Trustfile tax return software. The company claims the new version can cut the time needed to prepare sales tax returns to as little as five minutes. With a cloud version made available this year, the latest edition provides businesses with fully populated signature-ready tax return forms based on uploads of their sales and tax collection data in .CSV format.

Nonprofit software vendor Abila has introduced an update to its donor relationship management application, Millennium. The company has added Millennium Drive, an analytical feature that offers personalized dashboards and lets users access reports and Visual Analyzer pages, along with providing new search functionality. Drive offers a key tasks list, with the tasks shown in a daily, weekly and monthly calendar views.

Fishbowl, which makes inventory software for QuickBooks, has introduced an online application that enables employers to track employees’ time and payroll information. The company’s website describes the products as time-clock software. But the planned additions to functionality go beyond that and include human resources, scheduling, payroll integration, basic project management, project costing, advanced reporting. Pricing starts at $19 per month for one to nine employees and scales to $89 per month for 61 to 80 employees. I like the phrasing for those with more than 100 employees who are advised to “Contact us and we can figure out a pricing plan that works best for you.”
