INFOR GETS NEW CEO

Infor, which has been in the hands of CEO Jim Schaper for at least eight years (company history on the Web is lacking in detail), has turned its operations over to Charles Phillips. With Phillips taking over the CEO's job, Schaper has become chairman and will also serve as a senior operating partner at Golden Gate Capital, Infor's primary shareholder. Phillips was most recently president of Oracle.

The privately held company has nearly $2 billion in revenue, according to a statement in the press release about Phillips' hiring which is consistent with Infor statements indicating that the company is smaller than estimates by research firms that range as high as $2.5 billion. The question about such changes is "Why now?" although we are unlikely to get that answer. But it comes as Infor has shifted its product development strategy to rely heavily on Microsoft, which includes this month’s decision to utilize Dynamics CRM as a platform for the Infor CRM effort. Earlier this year, Infor adopted Microsoft Azure as its cloud platform of choice and Microsoft's products, including SharePoint, as the preferred technology tools.
