NETSUITE REVS UP DOUBLE DIGITS Featured

Mark Hurd, OracleOracle's NetSuite line registered 30-percent revenue growth for the third quarter ended February 28, the software company said during this week's earnings webcast. Or was that 28 percent? a number also tossed out during the session.

CEO Mark Hurd said NetSuite bookings were in the "mid 30s" in terms of the percentage of growth over last year's third quarter. In contrast with the past two quarterly reports, Oracle did not disclose the number of users at the end of the period for either of its ERP line. But it said the other line,  Fusion, grew by 35 percent for the most recently ended period. Hurd described he quarter as one with "lots of ERP wins" and wins "outside of the user base". For the most recently ended quarter, Oracle reported net income of $2.75 billion, against a loss of slightly more than $4 billion a year earlier. First-quarter revenue reached $9.61 billion, down 1 percent from $9.68 billion, up 3 percent in constant currencies. Oracle lumps cloud services and license support together and revenue from those sources was $6.66 billion in last year's corresponding period, a 1-percent rise from $6.59 billion. That category was up 4 percent in constant currency. Cloud license and on-premise revenue was $1.25 billion, a drop of 4 percent from slightly less than $1.3 billion.
