VP SCHOUTSEN LEAVING SAGE

John Schoutsen, SageJohn Schoutsen, VP of corporate communications for Sage North America, is leaving the company this week. Schoutsen has held the position since February 2004, after coming aboard Sage with its purchase of Accpac International. But his association with the Accpac product line goes back to 1985 when he joined the then-independent company as a technical writer.

Schoutsen is leaving because his job is being moved to Irvine, Calif., and he has worked at Mississauga, Ontario, during his career. "This particular role was unusual and it was the only role of that level in a remote office," he said. Sage is expanding the job beyond corporate communications with roles in press and analyst relations to include advertising and the change has Sage looking to fill its two top marketing and communication jobs. Dennis Frahmann, EVP of marketing, is planning to retire within a few months. Frahmann's job, which apparently will become a position for a chief marketing officer, whose role would include brand communication, advertising and search engine marketing, as well as revenue performance management, which would include lead development management and customer loyalty management. Schoutsen said a large organization is being built for the latter role in Atlanta and Irvine. Accpac was purchased by the former Computer Associates International and Schoutsen worked there as a marketing director and then VP from April 1989 through April 1996. After Accpac become independent again, he had sales VP roles in Canada and North America from April 1997 through February 2002 and then took over the job as VP of press and analyst relations from February 2002 through February 2004.
