But desktop revenue—including unit sales, subscriptions and QBES—rose to $164 million in the most recently ended period, an increase of increase of 2.5 percent from $150 million a year ago. CEO Brad Smith said the earnings call for the first quarter that QBES was responsible for the rise. And while that statement was not repeated in the second-quarter earnings call, QBES apparently was the factor. The rise in desktop revenue "being driven by our high-end SKU QuickBooks Enterprise," CFO Michelle Clatterbuck said during the recent Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.

QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions is driving Intuit's desktop revenue for the QuickBooks family of products. Unit sales continued to fall in the second quarter ending January 31, falling 15.1 percent to $191 million from $225 million in last year's corresponding period.
