BLACKAUD PAYING $160M FOR MICROEDGE Featured

Joe Moye, BlackbaudBlackbaud has signed an agreement to buy MicroEdge, which makes software for the philanthropic giving community. Charleston, S.C.-based Blackbaud said the deal will expand its capabilities by the addition of MicroEdge products for grantmaking, corporate social responsibility and foundation management. Blackbaud will acquire all interest in New York-based MicroEdge from Vista Equity Partners and Bregal Sagemount. The deal will be financed by a combination of cash and credit financing.

Joe Moye, president of Blackbaud’s Enterprise Business Unit, noted, “In addition to partnering with new charitable foundation customers, we also intend to extend MicroEdge’s Corporate Social Responsibility offerings to help companies maximize their philanthropic impact through cutting edge administration, reporting, employee engagement, and other capabilities.” MicroEdge products include DonorCentral, a  web portal to give donors and advisors access to fund and grantmaking information; Gifts Online, a grant-making tool; and AngelPoints, which provides applications for involving employees in a company’s efforts, including volunteering and giving.
