DYNAMICS REVENUE OFF 6 PERCENT
Dynamics revenue fell 6 by six percent in the first quarter ended September 31, compared to a year-earlier sales, as Microsoft released its tallies. That's all that appears in the Microsoft form 10-Q.
However, that's not bad considering that the year-ago quarter ended before the economy nose-dived. Otherwise, revenue for the Microsoft Business Division, the parent of Microsoft Business Solutions, fell to $4.4 billion, from from just under $5 billion. Since Office represents more than 90 percent of revenue, it would appear that Dynamics revenue is no more than $440 million, although we don't know how high into the 90s Office goes. But annualize that $440 and the result is $1.7 billion and while I'd be surprised if Dynamics is quite that high, those figures haven't been reported in a while. Overall, Microsoft net income fell to $3.56 billion for the recently ended quarter, off 18 percent from $4.37 billion in last year's corresponding period. Revenue dropped to $12.9 billion, down 14 precent from $15.1 billion a year ago. This is probably the very obvious reason Microsoft will stop accepting credit cards for Dynamics payments on November 1--when net income is down more than $800 billion, the company wants those millions in fees those credit cards would incur.
