AVALARA GROWS CROSS BORDER BIZ Featured

Avalara has taken two steps this month that hav the potential to ignificantly increase its cross-border compliance business. First, it announced new duty and import tax features and content used  to generate landed cost pricing in Shopify Markets.

Second, it acquired 3CE Technologies, that provides Harmonized System commodity classification codes and verification solutions to private businesses and government agencies. No terms were announced. Avalara said Shopify’s use of its technology determines duty and import tax requirements for more than 180 countries.  Avalara AvaTax Cross-Border, the engine for Shopify, has a new feature Avalara Cross-Border Estimated, that can calculate duty and import tax fees at checkout, without requiring tariff codes. 3CE’s technology helps in “further automating its HS code classification services and self-service capabilities for businesses of all sizes in addition to customers in government and manufacturing,” Avalara said in its announcement.
