SAGE REORGANIZING; LAYING OFF Featured

Sage is undergoing a reorganization that moves it far closer to its goal of One Sage. At the same time, it said it will cut 820 roles globally, but create other ones.

CEO Stephen Hare’s announcement this week was not surprising given the consolidation of the Sage and Intacct Busines Builder reseller conference in the spring and the newly named Sage Transform this fall, which will replace Sage Summit and Intacct Advantage. Product management and all regional product teams will be centralized under chief product officer Walid Abu-Hadba, the Sammamish, Wash.-based executive, who joined Sage in June. Abu-Hadba will report to COO Lee Perkins. All marketing will be placed under chief marketing officer Cath Keers, based in London. This includes product and partner marketing and the Hub. Hare’s announcement said 200 roles will be eliminated in the United Kingdom and Ireland, 250 in North America and 370 in the rest of the world. “We will at the same time create new positions and continue to hire to build the capabilities we need for the future,” he said. Hare said those cut will receive outplacing services, severance in excess of legal requirements and the opportunity to apply for new roles.
