TEAMS IS IN YOUR ERP’S FUTURE? Featured

The move in hybrid work and collaboration is pushing Microsoft Teams into business applications. Naturally, Microsoft is highlighting Teams being embedded in  Microsft 365 and Dynamics 365.

But it’s not alone. Acumatica will have Teams integration in Release 2, later this year. “Directionally adding collaboration to business apps is a no brainer,” Acumatica CEO Jon Roskill said this week. Roskill said the Salesforce Developer Community will do the same thing with Slack, recently purchased by Salesforce. In this week’s webcast for earnings for the year ended June 31, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella naturally painted the future with a very wide brush for his firm's products. " Microsoft Teams is the new front end. It's where people meet, chat, call, collaborate and automate business processes all within the flow of work," Nadella said. It’s not hard to think of uses with financial or CRM applications in which it would be handy to have a video conference with someone on the other end without leaving the application you are in. Nadella said there are 80 million Teams phone monthly users. He also pointed to integrations between Dynamics 365 and Teams that enable users to view and collaborate on records without purchasing multiple license. Nadella pointed to another obvious use to the Dynamics Teams combo. “With Dynamics 365, customer service organizations like Coca-Cola, Renault, and Xiaomi have a single comprehensive solution to deliver consistent and personalized support across all channels,” he said.
