FISHBOWL STARTS HOSTING SERVICES
Fishbowl Inventory has introduced Fishbowl Hosted Services, a hosted service for the company’s QuickBooks-oriented package which comes with Microsoft Office installed. It’s designed for small and midsize businesses, which are the targets for Fishbowl’s products. The pitch is the usual one about freeing business from IT issues.
Besides coming with Office ready to run, the system offers a lot of things you’d expect, such as backups and enterprise-level security. Pricing starts at $375 per month, with a one-time setup fee of $375 for two to five users; $575 per month with a $575 setup fee for six to 10 users; $875 per month with a setup fee of $875 for 11 to 20 users and so one. I tried calling the company to ask about the program, but there’s no contact info on the release and if you dial the main number, there’s no directory; hitting “0” just brings you back to the main menu and choices that suggest if you’re not a customer or don’t want to become one, they don’t want to talk to you. Last time I called, I asked for whoever handled PR and marketing, which seemed to baffle the person on the other end. I’m not sure where I ended up but whoever I left a massage for, saying I'd like to talk about the channel program, didn't call back.
