Under the sea is taking on a new meaning with Microsoft’s announcement it is testing underwater datacenters. The software company is in the second phase of the program in which it is operating a prototype on the seafloor near Scotland’s Orkney Islands.

So much for the Adaptive insights initial public offering. Workday is acquired the cloud-based budgeting and planning software company. Workday this week said it will pay $1.55 billion for Palo Alto, Calif.-based Adaptive, including $150 million in unvested equity issued to the target company’s employees.
