SAGE ONE RELAUNCHED IN U.S.

 Connie Certusi, SageInteresting to hear Sage execs state in this week's first half earnings webcast that Sage One has been relaunched in the United States. Apparently, Sage apparently has decided not to do any more in telling the press about it than in the initial launch. CEO Steve Kelley pointed to the introduction of eight significant features in the online, low-cost accounting system, followed by 33 in the second quarter. His assessment? "We are not on a par with the best-in-class in the market place."

BLACKBAUD NAMES UNIT CHIEF

Brian Boruff, Blackbaud Blackbaud has hired Brian Boruff as president of its enterprise customer business unit. He takes over from EVP Charlie Cumbaa, who was interim ECBU president of while a replacement was sought for Joe Moye, who resigned in March. Moye is now president of Americas Software for Virtustream. Boruff worked most recently at InfoSys where he was a VP from June 2013 through this month. Before that, he was a managing director at Accenture from May 2011 through June 2013.

SUITEWORLD: SLIGHT VAR NEWS

NetSuiteNetSuite did not reveal any major reseller signings at this week's SuiteWorld conference. It did announce that Montreal, Quebec-based Big Bang ERP has joined the reseller problem. But with all due respect to those folks, we had been looking more for big-name Microsoft VARs to move to the cloud product. That did not happen and despite NetSuite's keeping the channel under wraps because it had prospects there, I did not run into anyone that I knew who was not already in the program.

COLUMBUS NAMES U.S. HEAD

Keld Jersild Olsen, Columbus Dynamics reseller Columbus has named Keld Jersild Olsen as managing director of the Danish company's operations in the United States. Columbus, which recently purchased Interdyn BMI, also named Thomas Hauge as COO. Olsen was previously SVP of Columbus' worldwide services, which employees 900 consultants. In 2014, the U,S. operations dropped, but with two months of BMI's numbers included in results for the first quarter ended March 31, the U.S. business turned around.

SWK'S PRODUCT REVENUE BOOMS

SWKResults for SilverSun Technologies, parent of Sage reseller SWK Technologies, were strong for the first quarter ended March 31. Net income reached $521,165 for the most recently ended period, most than four times the $120,741 the prior year. Revenue grew to $6.5 million, an increase of 31.6 percent from $4.9 million last year's corresponding period. A big portion of the revenue growth was $1.4 million in software revenue, up 126.7 percent from almost $610,00 a year earlier. SWK comprises all of SilverSun's operation. However, the parent of the Livingston, N.J.-based VAR did not single out performance of a specific product.

PRE-INSTALLED TRAVERSE SERVERS DEBUT

Bill Strohmeyer, Open Systems Open Systems has released Traverse Turnkey Servers, which the company said is a program that provides high-quality server systems with Traverse software pre-installed. When customers purchase a Traverse Turnkey Server, they receive an HP ProLiant Server configured and loaded with software. The Minneapolis, Minn.-based company said Open Systems IT personnel are available to help.

NETSUITE NAMES SALES SVP

Mike Arntz, NetSuite NetSuite has named Mike Arntz as sales SVP for the Americas. Arntz was most recently EVP of worldwide sales for Kenandy from September 2103 through November 2014. But like many important NetSuite hires, he comes from the mothership—he worked with Oracle from June 1994 through September 2013. In his last three years, four months with Oracle, Arntz was group VP of North American application sales, and mid-market accounts.

HOUILLON EXITING SAGE

Pascal Houillon, SagePascal Houillon is leaving his job as CEO of Sage's America's operation. The move, effective this week, is said by Sage to be a matter of leaving the business to broaden his career outside of Sage." Don't you love the phrase? Anyway, Sage made the announcement with the release of results for the half end March 31. The company says it is looking for a permanent president of Sage North America, which you may notice is not the same title.

FINANCIALFORCE KNOCKS FRANKENCLOUD

Evan Goldberg, NetSuiteFinancialForce.com is going after cloud vendors that pitch a patchwork of applications. The company, whose ERP system is built on the Salesforce 1 platform, launched what it called an education initiative to raise awareness about the "FrankenCloud". It is an attack on vendors that FinancialForce said have bought their way into the cloud. It was primarily aimed at SAP and Oracle, but FinancialForce seemed happy to extend the definition to NetSuite.

CaliforniaWatched a group of out-of-town high school students in Manhattan. I concluded that, especially the girls with their wildly or partially shaved and colored hair, the tourists now look more bizarre than the street people. ... I am happy to see New  Yorkers are proud of their heritage. I saw plaque stating “On this day in 1663, in what was the New Amsterdam, the first known pan handler asked someone for change to get back to New Jersey.” Unfortunately, the panhandler spoke in English and the other person Dutch.… When somebody told me the state was having a sales tax holiday.
