MACOLA VARS NOW SERVICE PROVIDERS Featured

Macola logoThirteen VARs who were dropped from the Macola reseller program have been approved as service providers. The reseller contracts were terminated last fall by Fort Worth, Texas-based ECI Software Solutions, which said it would maintain a Macola channel only international.

The action also prohibited the VARs from servicing companies that had acquired Macola from them and the group sued on the grounds of breach of contract and tortuous interference, among other issues. This month’s third-party access agreements grant the former VARs the rights to work with the clients to provide Macola-related services and consulting to their registered customers. They still cannot sell Macola software to end users. ECI owns JobBoss, Macola and Max, which were formerly packages belonging to the Exact Group. Exact is owned by Apax Partners, which transferred the manufacturing software packages to ECI after acquiring that company. End user companies must be current on Enterprise Support agreements with ECI to participate in these agreements. When ECI dropped the contracts, it solicited the VARs’ clients, offering software, service and support.
