 Sovos has acquired TOC Biometrics, a Santiago, Chile-based company that provides id verification and electronic signature applications. Terms were not disclosed.

While TOC currently sells its products throughout Latin America, Sovos, which provides indirect tax software,  will utilize the technology across its portfolio. In its prepared statement, Sovos said, “TOC solutions enable seamless identity verification by measuring physical attributes to verify that a person is who they say they are.” TOC is reported to have had “a significant presence in highly regulated industries.” Its products offer both facial and fingerprint verification. Also in its portfolio is ID Meet, which enables the identifies of participants in video calls and virtual meetings to be verified can enables them to sign documents, take surveys and vote online.  TOC’s Smart ID utilizes a QR code for the exchange of personal information, through the comparison of the identity card and facial biometric verification.
