IT PROS SEE CLOUD AS SECURE Featured

A survey of IT professionals showed 75 percent believe the cloud provides more security than do their own data centers. And internally businesses are using scores of products to provide security, according to the recently released Oracle and KPMG Cloud Theft report.

There were 750 respondents in the survey with 40 percent saying the cloud is much more secure than their own sites, double the same category in 2018. Thirty-five percent said the cloud is more secure. Only 12 percent said the cloud is less secure with 2 percent viewing it has much less secure. Another 12 percent said the security levels are the same.  The survey noted the widespread adoption of cloud technology. Seventy-six percent utilize infrastructure-as-a-service today; while 50 percent expect to move all data to the cloud in the next two years. Eighty percent are concerned their cloud service providers will become competitors in core markets. The survey also found the use of multiple security products is the norm with 60 percent reporting they utilize more than 76 products; 78 percent of organizations use more than 50 cybersecurity product while; 37 percent employ more than 100.
