DYNAMICS REVS RISE 22 PERCENT Featured

Dynamics revenue rose 22 percent for Microsoft's third quarter ended March 31, 25 percent in constant currency. Lower than expected by the company, that double-digit level was not as good as the 29 percent registered for the second quarter ended December 31 and the 31 percent hike for the first quarter ended September 30.

During this week’s earnings webcast, CFO Amy Hood described the results as “substantially faster than the market although a bit lower than expected as we focus on stronger execution on our recent investments.” Hood noted Microsoft expects growth for the fourth quarter to be similar to the rate reported for the March quarter. Growth continued to be the spurred by Dynamics 365 which had a 35 percent year-over-year increase for the recently ended quarter, 38 percent in constant currency. Microsoft generally does not provide actual amounts of revenue for Dynamics. CEO Satya Nadella gave a broad description of plans for the Dynamics line. ”We’re further differentiating the Microsoft Cloud by bringing together Dynamics 365, Teams and Synapse to usher in a new era of collaborative applications that transform every business function and process.” No details were provided about this goal.
